Okay Kiffin, this should be an easy one. I like people from Minnesota. In fact, my grandmother is from Minnesota. But 3-9 last season? The Golden Gophers have some work to do.
The Trojans shouldn't get much of a test here. Last year they defeated the Gophers by a comfortable 32-21. Not a blowout but two scores is always nice.
For the high octane USC football team this is more of a practice run before their big game against the "new kids" from Utah. It's okay Kiffin, the Utes scheduled Montana State for their opener.
I know USC fans are calling for the spread and some excitement or a different look for the offense but I don't think you need it for this game. Just do what USC always does and this one is in the bag.
Last season, the junior quarterback, Matt Barkley threw the ball for a respectable 2,791 yards with 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions—not really a fantastic year but a good one.
The Golden Gophers quarterback from last year, Adam Weber, is playing in the NFL. The Gophers now look to Marqueis Gray, who appears to be an exceptional all around athlete. But even with the addition of Gray, for the Gophers to go from 3-9 to beating USC in the Coliseum doesn't seem too likely.
I predict a similar outcome to last year. The Trojans win here, 35-21.
