Cesc Fabregas begins his most desired stint of his career. He is back with his boyhood side, but that does not mean he will never wear an Arsenal kit again. It is a possibility that will improve with each passing day.
The biggest signing of the summer is still fresh with wet ink. Fabregas is back with the club that he left when he was just 16-years old. The Spaniard has been waiting for what seems like eons to return to the Catalans.
He has been greeted with much fanfare. His World Cup teammates Xavi, Iniesta and Pique have treated this like a brother returning home from a perilous trip. It is certainly a tale that has some vestiges of family tied to it.
All of that being said, Arsenal can still bookend this star?s career with a return to Emirates. Mirror Football reports Arsenal have exclusive rights to purchase Cesc Fabregas the moment Barcelona want to sell him off.
Arsenal also get 50% of any fee if Barcelona sell Fabregas elsewhere. The deal seems to be getting sweeter by the day. That transfer seems to have been bittersweet for Fabregas.
The main point that was hammered home was that Fabregas wanted to leave, but we failed to see how much adoration that he still has for the Gunners. He seems absolutely saddened at times in the report.
No player is bigger than a club and I was no bigger than Arsenal. I was just a servant and spent eight years there when I gave absolutely everything. It didn't show in the cabinet?and this is the biggest regret I will have in my career, probably, not to be able to lift a trophy as Arsenal captain?Friday was one of the saddest days for me because I left behind a great time of my life - eight years that passed so quickly, when I went from a boy to a man?Now I'm here and it's one of those mixed feelings that you have.
A club like Barcelona has a way of taking in talent that is hitting its prime. They use it up, and then spit it out when they are done.
I have no doubt that Cesc will be fruitful for the Catalans. At some point, his time there will be done. That is when I fully expect him to return for a sweet swan song with the team that truly started it all. Sure, he began his youth with Barca, but he became a star with Arsenal.
That favor will one day be repaid.
