Every now and then there, we will have a crew of NFL wide receivers so good that they deserve first round fantasy football draft consideration.
This may be one of those years.
As a rule of them, fantasy football owners will usually start drafting wide receivers somewhere in the second or third round.
Depending on the type of league, quarterbacks and running backs generally go first, and then receivers will follow after.
If you want to be real bold though, I?d consider these three top notch receivers that may be worth first round consideration:
Calvin Johnson, Lions:
Plain and simple, Johnson is going to score you more fantasy points than half the running backs and quarterbacks in the NFL. The scary part, that?s not even an overstatement. The Lions generally have a tough time getting the ball to Johnson because he is being double covered, yet he still finds a way to get at least one touchdown and near 100 yards every week. This year with a rejuvenated Nate Burleson and a healthy Matt Stafford, I expect Johnson is going to go off.
Julio Jones, Falcons:
I think Julio Jones is going to explode onto the NFL scene as a rookie. Atlanta seems to be making an effort to get him involved in the offense, and I think he can do the rest. He?s going to be faster than most linebackers that try to cover him in the slot, and he?s much quicker than most corners over top. Consider the fact that dead on accurate Matt Ryan is passing him the ball, and he may be worth a look. Some say that he?s a sleeper, but I?m starting to think he?s star material.
Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals:
Let?s go back to the safe picks eh? Fitzgerald is hands down the most talented wide receiver in the league. He?s got great hands, and he runs routes like it?s his job. Okay, it is his job, but you get my point. I think Fitzgerald is setting himself up for a career year with Kevin Kolb at the helm for Arizona.
