Alabama Football 2011: Quarterback Play Will Be a Big Issue Against Better Teams

Without a solid quarterback, a team is bound to have its troubles.

Well, against teams not named Kent State.

Alabama may have won their game against the Flashes 48-7 but the Tide offense has a lot of people concerned about the future of this team.

Junior A.J. McCarron and Sophomore Phillip Sims combined for four interceptions on the day against the 47th best pass defense in 2010.

That does not bode well for the rest of Alabama?s SEC schedule as well as a road trip to Penn State next weekend.

Factor in the fact that McCarron and Sims are both pocket passers and Trent Richardson?s 2.8 yards per carry and you have a serious problem on offense.

Penn State had the 35th best defense in the country last season and return seven of those starters including their entire secondary. Based on last week, it is hard to imagine that the quarterbacks in crimson will do well on the road.

There are also trips to Florida and Mississippi State as well as visits from Arkansas and LSU later on the schedule.

Something needs to change and soon for Alabama or this dream defense may not be enough to get the Alabama an SEC championship.
