College Football Rankings: Pac-10 Teams Puzzling Pollsters in Week 6

Is it possible the pollsters don't know what to make of the teams from out west, the PAC-12 especially. This is probably the most mis-ranked conference in the nation.

The conferences' best team, Oregon has one loss on a neutral field to the No.1 team in the nation and they sit at No. 8. They are in a better place than they were immediately after the loss as they dropped a ridiculous 10 spots to No. 13 after the LSU game.

After watching the Ducks this season, I find it hard to believe that there are seven teams better in the country. One team that is ranked ahead of Oregon is the Andrew Luck led Stanford Cardinal at No.7.

Stanford is still undefeated but they haven't looked nearly as dominant as Oregon has. Its true, Oregon is the highest ranked team with one loss but there is no crime ranking a one loss team ahead of an unbeaten one.

If they haven't played head to head and have no common opponents, you can use the eyeball test. The Ducks certainly look like a better team than the Cardinal.

The only other PAC-12 team in the Top 25 is No. 22 Arizona St. The Sun-Devils own two wins over teams that were in the bottom of the top 25, USC then ranked No. 23 and Missouri who was ranked No.21 at the time of the defeat.

The only opponent the Sun-Devils had that is currently ranked in the Top 25 is the No.19 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini. This game also represents the Sun-Devils only loss.

They are 4-1 and it would be difficult to say they shouldn't be ranked at all but there is no way they are better than the No.23 ranked Florida St. Seminoles who are indeed 2-2 but the two losses came against top 10 opponents.

The Same can be said for Texas A&M, who is also 2-2, their losses came at the hands of two top 20 teams.

Hopefully, things become a little more clear when conference play begins.
