BCS Rankings Week 9: 5 Most Overrated BCS Teams in the Nation

I hate the BCS computers.

They put too much weight in point differential and polls, and not enough in strength of schedule.

The Week 9 BCS rankings are out, and there are five teams that are incredibly overrated and ranked too high.

No. 8 Kansas State

The best team they’ve beaten all season is Baylor.

Big deal.

Sophomore quarterback Collin Klein isn’t very accurate, and relies much too often on his legs when a play breaks down.

His 195 passing yards on Saturday against Kansas was a season high.

With the murder’s row schedule the next four weeks (No. 9 Oklahoma, @ No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 16 Texas A&M and @ No. 24 Texas), there’s a great shot this team goes on a four game losing streak in the next month.

No. 12 Virginia Tech

The only time they played a ranked opponent, they were savagely beaten by 20 against No. 5 Clemson.

This is clearly a transition year for Frank Beamer and expect his average offense to slip up against Georgia Tech and North Carolina later in the season.

No. 15 South Carolina

QB Tyler Shaw only has three career starts to his name, and he almost cost his team a win against Mississippi State because of it.

The 35th ranked offense was supposed to be better, but Stephen Garcia blew that.

With games against No. 10 Arkansas, Florida, and No. 5 Clemson still on the slate…this team is going to lose at least two more games and officially vanish from the rankings.

No. 18 Michigan

The Wolverines have benefited from a cupcake schedule up until last week when they got doubled-up by Michigan State.

Defenses that are disciplined at linebacker are able to contain QB Denard Robinson in the pocket, can force the shaky passer to throw the ball more than he would like. Turnovers and lots of incompletions will follow.

With games against Illinois, No. 14 Nebraska and Ohio State to close the season…this team will be looking like a candidate for the Insight Bowl—not the Rose Bowl.

No. 23 Auburn

The Tigers have been ousted by the polls, yet their super-strong strength of schedule keeps them in the BCS Top 25.

After getting embarrassed by a short-handed LSU team, the Tigers are officially giving up more points (28.3 points) than they are scoring (24.3).

The defense is too young and inexperienced, the offense is in transition and they still have No. 22 Georgia and No. 2 Alabama on the slate.

This team has a great shot of finishing the year with five losses and a mediocre bowl game.
