Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears may have beaten a bad Minnesota Vikings team in Week 6, but that doesn't excuse them from being 3-3, having a bad offensive line or having a worse defense than last season.
That's why the Bears will lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, when their weaknesses will once again be exposed.
Even after a curiously good performance against the Vikings in Week 6, the Bears' offensive line has still given up 19 sacks this season, third-worst in the league.
It would be nice for the Bears if offensive lines transformed overnight, but the reality is that's not how offensive lines work. They need to be developed, and the Bears have already shown us there is plenty of development that has yet to occur.
I don't expect the young Bucs to collect many sacks against the Bears, given they only have 10 sacks on the season, but I do expect them to bring plenty of pressure and rattle Cutler.
There's also the issue of the Bears' defense. They had a solid game against a rookie quarterback in Week 6, but overall this defense is nothing like the one that was so formidable in 2010. The Bears are giving up 275 passing yards per game so far and have given up a league-worst 5.4 yards per carry.
Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman has gotten back on track after a rough start, throwing for 303 yards and two touchdowns against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. His play alone will open holes for LeGarrette Blount's replacement, Earnest Graham, on Sunday.
Not to mention Graham showed against the Saints that he still has some left, rushing for 109 yards.
On top of all of this, the Buccaneers are 3-1 at home this season while the Bears are 0-2 on the road.
The Bears took baby steps against the Vikings in Week 6, but they still have a long way to go before their offensive line and defense gels (I'm still not sure if the O-line ever will).
The Buccaneers will improve to 5-2 in Week 7 and the Bears will fall to 3-4.
