Tim Hightower Injury: Ryan Torain Has Chance to Shine with Redskins Star RB out

Washington Redskins back up running back Ryan Torain has a chance to shine as starter Tim Hightower injured his knee on a non-contact play in the third quarter of the Redskins game against the Carolina Panthers,

Hightower's knee gave out as he attempted to make a hard cut—which are injuries usually involving a tear—but nothing has been determined thus far. If Hightower is out for a considerable amount of time, Torain will be the lead back in the Redskins' system, giving him free reign to show what he is made of.

Hightower got the starting job from Torain this offseason in similar fashion.

Before the season, Hightower beat out Torain for the starting running back job—even though Torain looked more impressive—due to Torain breaking his hand and missing the final four weeks of camp.

Torain has been waiting to get his chance all season long, and he finally has it. One would think he will make the most of it as he should have been the starter this season. Torain could be the starter for the rest of the year with an impressive display in Hightower's absence.
