BCS Rankings 2011: Stanford's Struggles with USC Prove They Are Overrated

While NFL teams Suck for Luck, Andrew needed a little luck to help him and the Cardinal past the USC Trojans. Stanford's 3-OT win was exciting, but it proves they are ranked too high.

It is true, it was a conference game and a bit of a rivalry. But when you consider the Stanford schedule has been soft all year long, a struggle of this magnitude against a rather weak Trojans' team is cause for alarm.

You can really make a strong case that Stanford should have lost this game. The questionable personal foul call that extended the Cardinal drive in the fourth quarter and the fumble at the end of the third overtime were key plays that Stanford benefited from.

Luck is a remarkable prospect, Urban Meyer called him the best NFL prospect at QB since Peyton Manning. Of course, he said this after his prerequisite mention of Tim Tebow, but the Manning reference was sincere.

The issue is the Cardinal have future NFL talent sprinkled throughout their team. If they were to reach the National Championship, they'll likely face a team that will field units where 60 to 70 percent will play on the next level.

The Oregon game on November 12th will be the telling game in this great Cardinal season. I'm willing to bet Oregon will show Stanford what an elite college football team really looks like.

The Ducks with one loss to the top team in the nation, on a neutral field is a better team than the Cardinal and they will prove that in Week 11.
