If there ever was a time for fantasy owners to get desperate, it would be during Week 8 of the NFL season.
Not only are many teams having their bye weeks, which has a huge impact on fantasy, but there are a number of injuries that are impacting fantasy leagues as well.
Even the best owners are searching the waiver wires for a guy to plug a hole, or in some cases be a legitimate starter going forward.
Here are some of the hottest waiver wire pickups moving into Week 8:
Carson Palmer, QB, Oakland Raiders
Palmer was a pretty questionable start coming into this week, and even though he did see playing time, the Raiders looked horrible against the Chiefs. Another week under his belt in practice and with the organization should do Palmer well. Keep in mind that this is the Raiders bye week, so don't count on him to be your starter this week. But, if you want him on your team you might as well grab him before somebody else does.
Jackie Battle, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Battle has somewhat emerged back on the scene as a potentially decent option at running. The Chiefs running game is banged up, which means they will lean on him for all the scoring they do from here on out.
Shaun Hill, QB, Detroit Lions:
Now before you run off and go pick up Hill let me warn you that Matthew Stafford just might be okay. That being said, he's got a horrible track record against him and he isn't looking that healthy right now. Hill has put up some very good numbers in this league, so he's a great pickup.
Plaxico Burress, WR, New York Jets:
Burress actually went out and grabbed three touchdowns this week, which was rather surprising. I wouldn't expect him to be your first or second option, but he's a good matchup play.
