No. 1: Alfredsson?s salary is an attractive $1 million in the final year of his contract and that?s a bargain basement price for a player with his capabilities. But he still carries a $4.875-million cap hit because that?s the average annual value of the deal. That could be tough for a lot of teams to swallow.
No. 2: Since Alfredsson signed the extension after he turned 35, he will still be a cap hit even if he decides not to play next season.
