MLB World Series 2011 Schedule: Next 3 Games Will Be Slugfests

There has been one glaring omission from the first two games in the 2011 World Series. One question that viewers, either at the ball park or at home watching, have to be asking themselves.

“Where are the runs?”

Coming into this series, these two teams led their respective leagues in offense. Both teams came into this series relying on their offense to carry them in this postseason.

However, after two games the offense has been missing.

What’s up with that?

There could be two factors into why the runs have disappeared from these two loaded offenses. One is that the games have been played in St. Louis, where the game-time temperatures have started in the mid-to-low 40’s.

The other factor is that both teams have started out tight in these games. Both teams have been able to throw their best pitchers out, with little to no information about how each pitcher works a game.

Having these two teams playing each other for the first time this season in this World Series benefits the pitching and defense to start.

But, after the first two games, it will make these next three games into slugfests, as the teams are starting to get more familiar with each other.

With the games moving back to Arlington, they will be anything but pitching duels.

For starters, the game-time temperatures will be starting in the 60’s. Warmer temps will make it easier for the ball to fly out of the park.

Second, in games that have been played in Arlington, the lowest run total between the Rangers and their opponent (either the Rays or Tigers) was five, in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

That game was the one where they had two rain delays and played in horrible conditions, which curbed the run total.

Aside from that game, in the postseason there has been run totals of 9, 14, 10 and 20. That's five games played with a total of 58 runs scored between three teams.

Tomorrow night, Game 3 begins with the Rangers and Cardinals ready to put up a lot of big numbers on the scoreboard.

For those fans who have loved seeing great pitching and defense, these next three games are not for you.

But, for those fans who love seeing a lot of offense and long innings, with high drama with every pitch, these next three games are going to be some of the best baseball ever.
