Toronto?s Brian Burke, Vancouver?s Mike Gillis, Edmonton?s Steve Tambellini and Calgary?s Jay Feaster all said they?re concerned over how bad it makes the teams and the league look to have players blindsided on TV, saying they haven?t heard from their own clubs. They?re worried it makes the teams look uncaring and unprofessional.

Trade protocol demands teams not inform players of trades until they?re rubber-stamped via a trade call originating from the league?s New York office. While the teams wait in line for the trade call, word invariably leaks out.
