2011 NFL Preseason Schedule: Tim Tebow Needs To Get Off High Horse

The Denver Broncos need to find a way to saddle quarterback Tim Tebow before he starts causing trouble within their team.

I?m not saying that Tebow is meaning to start drama, and I?m not saying that he doesn?t have a right to think what he thinks.

But, what I am saying is that he needs to shut up and play football, or else things might start getting really sticky in the Denver Bronco?s locker room.

Tebow has all but come out and said that he deserves to be the starter at quarterback, and he has definitely voiced his displeasure with being a backup.

Tebow is not only causing a rift within the Denver fan base, but he is very obviously impacting his teammates as well. Here is what ESPN?s Jemele Hill has to say about the situation:

I've said many times -- and will reiterate once more -- that I've been around a lot of athletes who publicly profess to be God-fearin', Good Book-readin' citizens but spend more time in strip clubs than at Bible study. Tebow is among a select group of athletes who, I believe, lives as he preaches -- with faith, humility, honesty and integrity.

But none of that means he should be Denver's starting quarterback.

The first person who needs to understand that is Tebow himself, who bristled recently at ESPN analyst Merril Hoge's sharp criticisms of his quarterback skills.

After watching game film of Tebow from last season, Hoge tweeted last week: "Orton or Tebow? It's embarrassing to think the broncos could win with tebow!!" Elsewhere, Hoge described Tebow's accuracy as "awful."

That didn't sit well with Tebow.

"Others who say I won't make it are wrong," he told reporters. "They don't know what I'm capable of and what's inside me. My family and my friends have been bothered by what's gone on, and I tell them to pay no attention to it. I'm relying, as always, on my faith."

It?s fine with me if he thinks that he is destined for greatness, and it?s fine with me if he wants to do everything he can to win the starting job.

But there?s a catch: He has to compete for it!

Simply just being Tim Tebow doesn?t get you anywhere in the NFL. He was a great high school football player, he was one of the best ever in college, but so far in the NFL he has been nothing but questionable.

The National Football League is a ?what have you done for me lately? organization, and Tebow hasn?t done much of anything besides whine about not being the starter.
