Peyton Hillis had a breakout campaign for the Cleveland Browns last season. The third-year running back rushed for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Don't think the nation didn't take notice.
Hillis has made it to the finals in the Madden 12 Cover Vote on ESPN's SportsNation, vying with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick to be featured on next season's Madden cover.
Vick appears to have gained favor in the public eye once again after a marvelous 2010-2011 comeback following a stint in prison for running a dogfighting ring.
Fans can vote for the next Madden cover athlete through April 27 on ESPN.com.
In college football news, not only is Notre Dame football trying to move forward on the field with a promising crop of prospects, the university is also trying to move on from the disastrous death of one of its students in October.
Declan Sullivan, 20, was filming football practice from a lift suspended 40 feet up in the air amidst swirling winds when he fell to his death on Oct. 27.
After a six-month investigation, the university is not pointing the finger at any one individual for the incident.
Said Peter Likins, an engineer who helped lead the investigation (via the NY Times), “Though a needless loss of life cries out for one to shoulder blame, the facts here do not support any single individual finding of fault."
In the Boston Marathon, Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya ran the fastest marathon ever with a time of two hours, three minutes, two seconds on Monday.
His time, however, won't be recorded as a world record because of a strong tailwind on the downhill course.
For this and a whole lot more, tune in after the (page) break.
