2011 NFL Mock Draft: Buffalo Bills Pass on Blaine Gabbert for Top Defensive Pick

The Buffalo Bills Pass on Blaine Gabbert

The Buffalo Bills really like Frank Sinatra because they do things their way. If you do not get the reference, I feel really old.

If a franchise quarterback is a priority, like it is this year, do not expect them to get one in the first round. They may not try for one in the second round either.

The reason for this is the Bills are in a better position than many other teams who need a quarterback because they have a guy who can hold the fort down until they find a franchise quarterback. The key part of this is they have to actually find one, which they will not do here.

Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be the quarterback of the future in Buffalo, but he is good enough to allow the Bills to wait until the second round (or even the third) to take a quarterback. The Bills can spend the first round focusing on other needs and improve the team on both sides of the ball.

Patrick Peterson is the best prospect in the draft according to many scouts and the Bills will scoop him up here without thinking twice about it.

With Peterson, the Bills now have a shutdown corner to anchor their secondary.

Once the second-round begins, the Bills can take their choice from a list of good quarterbacks who still will be available.
