UFC 129 Fight Card: What Would a Win vs Georges St-Pierre Mean for Jake Shields?

Bleacher Report's Jeffrey McKinney:

Jake Shields is a man who should not have anything to prove.

He has beat some of MMA?s best fighters in two different weight divisions, has not lost since 2005, and his win streak is currently at 15 (one more than current pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva).

Yet you don?t hear talks of Shields being in the top five pound-for-pound fighters.

He?s also ranked behind Jon Fitch in top-10 rankings for the welterweight division despite being the No. 1 contender.

Although he could be Georges St-Pierre?s biggest threat to date, Shields will be a huge underdog at UFC 129.

If St-Pierre wins this fight, it will be nothing more than another notch on his belt.

But if Shields can somehow pull off the upset, especially in convincing fashion, we could be looking at one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in MMA today.

Shields is not a guy who?s going to give you flashy moves, hard KO?s, or new moves we haven?t seen.
