2011 NFL Draft: Philly gets a physical presence on the offensive line:
Each offensive tackle prospect expected to go in the first round offers something different. Tyron Smith offers tremendous potential and athleticism. Nate Solder offers a big frame and physicality that needs to be coached up. Anthony Castonzo provides a polished player with limited room for growth.
Gabe Carimi offers pure physicality. Carimi helped Wisconsin have three 1,000-yard rushers last season. Meanwhile, quarterback Scott Tolzien barely got touched.
Carimi was the anchor for one of the nation's best offensive line, most members of which will go onto successful NFL careers. Philadelphia could use his mean presence on the edge, whether that be left or right tackle.
Winston Justice and Jason Peters are both excellent tackles, so Carimi's future could be moving to guard. The area of his game that needs the most work is his pass blocking anyway. He'd be much less exposed on the inside.
Having depth along the offensive line is important or a team that has banked its immediate future on Michael Vick.
