NFL Draft 2011: New Orleans Saints Are Looking Seriously at Safeties

New Orleans Saints Draft: The Saints are working out plenty of defensive players:

With a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in the works, the New Orleans Saints have to wait and see when they can start bringing back their NFL-high 28 unrestricted free agents.

Among those free agents-to-be are safeties Roman Harper, Darren Sharper, Pierson Prioleau, Matt Giordano, Usama Young and Chris Reis.

Yikes.

Harper is the only starter in the group, playing the strong side next to free safety Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins is the only player on the three-deep roster that is under contract in 2011.

Therefore, it's no surprise that New Orleans is meeting with safeties Daniel Graff from LSU, Tommy Connors from Southeastern Louisiana and Lance Lacoste from Northwestern State this week, according to CBSSports.com.

The Saints don't have a ton of picks to work with, but that should be helped by re-signing some players. Harper is expected to return. New Orleans won't have to replace its entire three-deep at safety in the draft.
