Dancing With the Stars Has Given Hines Ward A Platform To Surprise, But Is He the Favorite To Win the Competition?
Hines Ward isn't the first football player to grace the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars, but he may be one of the best.
Ward has come out of the gate on fire and has taken the competition by storm, immediately becoming a fan-favorite. The Pittsburgh wideout has approached the show with a great attitude and seems to genuinely enjoy the craft, unlike some celebrities who come on just to keep or get their names in the news.
The wideout looks like he's going to be staying on the dance floor for a long time, even if he can't believe it himself.
"WOW!," Ward tweeted, "I still can't believe that I nailed it on Monday. And to do it front of my Mom and Jaden was the most amazing thing ever. Thanks to Kym for putting that dance together on a song that is special to me. Fantasy! It's how I feel about my life now. 13 strong years with the greatest organization in the world along with the best FANS in all of sports!"
After watching him and seeing the crowd reaction, it's obvious that he's the dancer to beat in this competition. However, he has some pretty big celebrity competition. If I'm Ward, I'm most worried about Petra Nemcova, Chris Jericho and oddly enough Kirstie Alley as the biggest contenders on this cast.
Alley may seem like an odd choice, but you have to realize that people are going to root for her to make it all the way and since it's a popularity contest to determine the winner, there's no reason Alley can't make it to finals based on that.
Ward certainly has the moves and the personality to win a lot of votes and I expect to see him dancing in the finals. It may not be the Lombardi Trophy, but I'm sure Ward will be thrilled to win the competition.
It's not easy to dance, just ask Kenny Mayne, who looked like Frankenstein on the dance floor.
