A Look at the Stanley Cup Final with Terry Mercury

With the Stanley Cup Final one day away, I figured now would be a good time to get the thoughts of NHL Home Ice host Terry Mercury.

Terry was kind enough to take time out of his very busy schedule to ?talk? about the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks and what they both need to do to give themselves a chance to win hockey?s holy grail.

PH: At the beginning of the season, did you see the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks as being in the Stanley Cup Finals? Why or why not?
TM: I definitely saw the Bruins in the Stanley Cup?in fact I picked them to win it all based on the trade for Nathan Horton?and assuming Marc Savard would stay healthy. I didn?t see the Canucks?.as I thought this would be the year San Jose would break through.

PH: What do the Vancouver Canucks have to do in this series to be successful?
TM: Vancouver can?t get caught up in a physical contest with the Bruins. They have to be ready to battle?but once they get possession of the puck they have to let their speed and skill take over. They also have to get Tim Thomas moving back-and-forth in the net. He?s a less effective goalie when he has to do this. If they can get the Bruins chasing them?Boston will pick up penalties?and the Canucks power play will make them pay.
