Arsenal FC: Wenger Lining Up Manuel Jurado Replacement for Cesc Fabregas

Italian club AS Roma are on a mission this summer and the latest from the Stadio Olimpico club suggests that Barcelona youngster Bojan Krkic is set to play for the capital club next season in a deal worth €10 million.

What this means for Arsenal is Barcelona will look to step up their interest in Cesc Fabregas with the additional sum accumulating from the sale of Bojan.

Arsene Wenger is preparing for life without Fabregas and has lined up FC Schalke 04 playmaker, Juan Manuel Jurado, as a potential replacement for the exit-bound captain.

Jurado is not the name one would want Wenger to sign as a replacement for the sensational Catalan midfielder.

However, Wenger prefers unsung heroes over established stars, so this might indeed be true.

According to reports, Jurado is a £7.5 million target for Arsenal. Jurado rose to prominence through his stellar performance in the 2010-11 Champions League campaign, where the 24-year-old led Schalke's march to the semifinals.

Although Schalke's Bundesliga season was nothing but disastrous, the Spaniard had a good season overall.

If Jurado's performances against Inter Milan is anything to go by, then Arsenal could indeed have a bargain buy as a replacement for Fabregas.

Being a Real Madrid academy product, Jurado obviously is very talented.

His strength is passing and dribbling.

One can always guarantee a high pass completion rate from the Spaniard. An ideal player for Wenger to have on his team, Jurado maintains possession well and holds on to the ball comfortably.

Quite apparently a very able playmaker, Jurado is versatile enough to play in the wide positions as well.

Back in his Atletico Madrid days, Jurado excelled playing in the hole, and at Veltins-Arena, he was used more on the left flank, so his best position is debatable.

Not a great finisher, Jurado does have the technique to fire in from long range.

This is by no means a world class signing that Arsenal fans crave for, but a good value for money deal.

It's also worth remembering that Jurado is not yet a finished product. That being said, he does have the quality to deliver killer passes and is an excellent reader of the game, but whether he can do that at a club of the stature of Arsenal on a consistent basis is difficult to tell at the moment.

Jurado's arrival entirely depends on whether Fabregas stays or not, but having already rebuffed in his attempts to land Douglas Costa from Shaktar Donetsk, Wenger may well consider this cheaper option in the next few weeks.

Could Wenger afford such a relatively risky signing with the trophy drought entering an agonising seventh season?
