The New York Yankees are no longer the highest-paid team in North American sports. Despite paying their players an average salary of $6.2 million, they have been surpassed by the Los Angeles Lakers, whose players make an average of $6.3 million.
And neither of those teams are the highest-paid worldwide.
Barcelona once again tops the list, paying an average salary of $8.7 million per player, or 40.3% more than the average salary on the Yankees.
On the next few pages we will take a look at the 20 highest-paid teams, a list that includes teams representing six different professional sports leagues, and five different countries (all data via SportingIntelligence.com).
