If the Sabres are to become more than Ehrhoff?s third team of the week, however, they?ll have to do more than sell him on the dollars burning a hole in new owner Terry Pegula?s wallet or their rare status as a team with another German player in Jochen Hecht. Ehrhoff?s agent, Rick Curran, says that the Sabres will have to sell his client on the Sabres? status as a contender-in-the-making:
The Sabres were unable to talk with Ehrhoff on Wednesday night because he was in his native Germany, which has a six-hour time difference. The Sabres did talk with Ehrhoff?s agent, Rick Curran, who will set up a call today.
?Sabres management will have an opportunity to reach out and chat with him a little bit about their organization, express to him their aspirations for bringing him to Buffalo and what they hope to accomplish,? Curran said by phone.
...
?His mind-set is to be with an organization that is looking at being a Stanley Cup contender, and being part of a group of players that are looking to win,? Curran said. ?The best way to put it is, ?I?ve left Vancouver, where we were knocking on the door for the Stanley Cup, and wherever I go I want to make sure that I have that same opportunity.??
Continued, and teams like the Red Wings are obviously hoping that the Sabres can?t sell their game plan to Ehrhoff by 12 PM EDT on Friday?
