Chelsea are determined to build their future with Fernando Torres and this latest move proves it more than anything else so far.
The record fee for the Spanish footballer's transfer from Liverpool is one thing; pushing Didier Drogba out is another, but hiring Torres' personal trainer takes things to an entirely new level.
According to News of the World, "Chelsea have hired Fernando Torres' personal fitness trainer in an attempt to kick-start the striker's stuttering career."
Torres came over from Liverpool in the winter transfer window and promptly did nothing for the West London club.
The 27-year old Spaniard scored one goal in 18 appearances for the Blues but remains Roman Abramovich's top priority.
It is admirable that Chelsea went out of their way to hire the trainer in an effort to get the most out of their 50 million investment, but it also goes to show that they went out of their way to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Torres went 903 minutes without scoring a goal for Chelsea and the Blues had to have Didier Drogba rescue them once again.
Chelsea has been linked to a few other strikers so far this summer, but this is the first legitimate move they have made so far other than hiring Andre Villas-Boas as their new manager. The Jose Mourinho disciple returns to Stamford Bridge with a heavy weight on his shoulders, almost as heavy as the expectations that hang on Torres.
The Blues are still in the market for a midfielder and a defender, but it wouldn't be shocking to see them add another striker to the mix either before the summer is out.
The summer transfer window is far from being closed so expect to see the Blues stay active, and they hope that Torres' trainer can do the same for him.
