2011 NFL Draft: Who Will Be The First Quarterback Taken?
Had Andrew Luck decided to enter the draft, this question would be a no brainer. However, with Luck returning to Stanford for another season, it's time to figure out who will be the first quarterback taken off of the board.
There's plenty of options, with guys like Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett and Blaine Gabbert all being top contenders for that first quarterbacking spot. If I had to take a crack at it, I think it will be Mallett who goes off of the board first.
Mallett has a huge arm and is pretty mobile for a big quarterback, which is something scouts and coaches will love to see. There are some concerns about him off of the field, but whatever team takes him will think they can mold him.
I could see Cam Newton being the last of these guys taken, but then again, who saw Tim Tebow being a first round pick?
