Start’em
Dwayne Bowe @ Steelers (PPR Leagues) –
While Tyler Palko showed some life against the Patriots, it wasn’t enough to completely ease the minds of many Dwayne Bowe fantasy owners. Bowe had seven receptions for over 80 yards and just missed on a 25-yard touchdown catch in the end zone.
Still, this week he will face off against the Steelers and it will be hard for him to find the end zone in this game.
If you have Bowe in a PPR league, he’s a weekly start no matter the matchup because Palko will continue to give him a high target, reception total weekly. For standard leagues, Bowe should be viewed as a WR3 play at best going forward in 10-team leagues.
Nate Burleson vs. Packers –
The Lions No. 2 receiver is hot of late and should have another solid performance against the Packers this week. For whatever reason, Burleson went through a stretch where Matthew Stafford wasn’t looking his direction, which was a little puzzling after the success these two have shown in the past.
Anyway, look to Burleson as a decent WR3 option going forward as the Lions will be playing against some high-octane offenses in the weeks to come.
Mike Williams (TB) @ Titans –
Finally a solid performance from the second-year receiver that many had pinned their hopes on as a WR2 on draft day. Williams has clearly suffered a sophomore slump this year, but I wouldn’t be shocked if both Williams and quarterback Josh Freeman finish the season playing well.
This connection enjoyed much success a year ago, and with LeGarrette Blount back to set the tone on offense, the passing game should find some success.
Kevin Smith vs. Packers -
The much-talked-about veteran had an unbelievable game against the Panthers, and he needs to be in your lineup as at least a flex play going forward.
The Packers are undefeated but they’ve been horrible against the run all year and that won’t change this Thanksgiving. Expect Smith to total over 100 yards from scrimmage and a score in this one.
Sit’em
Jackie Battle @ Steelers -
Not only does Jackie Battle have a bad matchup, but the Chiefs decided to go with Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster against the Patriots, until the very end of the game. Battle is a bench player at best going forward, as his value is just about zero at this time.
Without Matt Cassel at quarterback, the Chiefs are likely to fall behind and throw the football against prevent defense, in a tough schedule down the stretch.
Roy Helu @ Seahawks -
The Seahawks were able to keep a hot Steven Jackson in check last week, and they should have no problems stuffing the Redskins pathetic run game.
I wouldn’t even use Helu in a PPR league this week, if you can help it, because Coach Mike Shanahan is so unpredictable with whom he’s going to start or sit from moment to moment.
Steve Johnson @ Jets -
What a horrible stretch it’s been for Steve Johnson of late, as the No.1 receiver is clearly not healthy and Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing like a third-string quarterback.
Johnson is still worth holding onto, but he’s failed to get anything done even in garbage time the last two weeks, so look to other options until this passing game starts to show life again.
Jabar Gaffney @ Seahawks –
Yes, Jabar Gaffney had a decent day last week, but this is another Redskins player I just don’t trust on a weekly basis. Maybe in a PPR league you could use him as a WR3 play, but he should be saved for an emergency start at best.
Santana Moss will be back soon and at that point, Gaffney should be worth releasing.
