Earlier today, it was reported on Impact Wrestling's official website that TNA has yet another new addition to their already star-studded roster. Joining the Nashville-based organization will be former WWE star Chavo Guerrero, who will be making his televised debut next week live on Impact Wrestling.
Following his uncle Eddie Guerrero's death in late 2005, it was highly speculated that Chavo (otherwise known as Kerwin White at the time) would be the one to receive a push due to Guerrero's unfortunate passing. However, the push was instead given to Rey Mysterio, who later won the World Heavyweight Championship in memory of Eddie.
During the summer of 2006, Chavo also received focus on his character when he turned heel on Mysterio, but the push wouldn't last long until Mysterio was put on the shelf for nearly a year with an injury. During the Ultimate Underdog's absence, Chavo hardly benefited and would subsequently lose to Mysterio up on his return to the ring the following summer.
For the rest of his WWE tenure, Chavo was mistreated and underutilized when he could have been a much bigger asset to the company. Aside from one brief ECW Championship reign in early 2008, Chavo was merely used as an enhancement talent up until his eventual departure in June 2011.
Later in the year, Chavo did some work with TNA Impact Wrestling apart of their Indian project entitled Ring Ka King. After a few brief appearances on the independent circuit, the Mexican Warrior has finally been signed to a deal with TNA.
As stated before, Guerrero will be making his televised debut on next week's edition of Impact Wrestling. I'm extremely excited for his pending debut, as he looks to be a valuable asset to TNA's reconstructed X-Division.
Given the fact that his other uncle, Hector Guerrero, is also currently under contract with the organization, it will be interesting to see what role Chavo plays upon his arrival. It's also possible he could be teamed with fellow Latino Hernandez, but it's unlikely with the Mexican America stable now non-existent.
Be sure to tune into next week's edition of Impact Wrestling to see what awaits Chavo Guerrero in TNA. I'm glad to see an experienced veteran added to the roster, as he can undoubtedly help the younger talent get over without having to lose to midgets in the process.
