Who is Mr. Irrelevant of the 2011 NFL Draft?
Cheta Ozougwu now has him name forever written in NFL draft history as Mr. Irrelevant. The name is given to the player who is the last pick in the draft. Ozougwu is a defensive end who played for Rice. He was drafted by the Texans with the 254th pick.
The name Mr. Irrelevant was first given out in the 1976 draft. Most players don't go on to have success, but some still do. Will Ozougwu contribute for the Texans, or will he be a nobody in the NFL?
Notable Mr. Irrelevant's are Bill Kenney, who eventually went on to a Pro Bowl, Marty Moore, who was the first Mr. Irrelevant to play in a Super Bowl, and Ryan Succop, a kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs who tied the record for highest field goal percentage by a rookie.

Ozougwu will need to be developed quite a bit before he can become a player with significant minutes. The 6'1" 247 pound defensive end does have the potential to be a decent role player for Houston.
His pass rush skills are not very good, and his lack of size will ultimately be his downfall. The Texansare switching to the 3-4 after the hire of Wade Phillips. This may end well for Ozougwu because of his size, and the fact that he stands straight up after the snap.
Ozougwu is going to a good situation where he can transition into a 3-4 OLB. He'll be standing up when pass rushing which may give him that extra step of quickness. His intangibles are great, but his athleticism is lacking.
The Texans will have to be patient with his development, but they know that going in. In fact, Houston has to be really patient will all their players transitioning to the 3-4. It doesn't help that we're in a lockout, because Houston is missing valuable time to learn the new system.
