Ian Jenkins, considered the best young goaltender in USA Hockey?s development program and the London Knights? second-round pick in the recent OHL draft, suffered a major head injury in a pickup truck accident near his home on Thursday and Friday night was taken off life support. Jenkins, 15, underwent surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor following the accident.

?He had a massive injury to the right side of his head,? continued the posting on the Facebook page. ?The brain would not stop swelling. He was a wonderful boy that touched the lives of many. He forever will live in mine and my family?s heart.?
Reports say friends, including members of his Belle Tire U-16s, and family members went to the hospital on Friday to say their goodbyes.
He was a kid from Ypsilanti who will be missed:
?Your stomach just drops,? co-owner/GM Mark Hunter said. ?As a parent, you just can?t believe this can ever happen. You can talk about competitive hockey and everything, but this kind of thing just puts life in perspective.?
