New York Yankees: Why Rotation Won't Hold off the Red Sox and Rays in AL East

New York Yankees don?t have enough to measure up in AL East

The Yankees knew their season wouldn?t be easy. After all, this isn?t the NL Central they are playing in.

The Yankees have found themselves in a dog fight with the rest of the AL East, but do they have what it takes to win?

I don?t think so.

I have long believed that a team should be judged by what they are at their worst. It?s easy to talk about a teams strengths, but how bad are their weaknesses. For the Yankees their weaknesses are plenty.

First there is the issue with the rapidly aging veterans. Second there is the issue internally with guys like Jorge Posada and Derek Jeter. You can say that those issues don?t matter out on the field, but they matter a lot these days.

But when all is said and done it comes back to that rotation. The Yankees have been counting on production from guys like Bartolo Colon.

So what are the Yankees at their worst? They are a collection of aging power hitters with a busted rotation that?s living on a wing and a prayer.

That?s not the makings of the AL East champ.
