Nike rolled out brand new uniforms for all 32 NFL teams this year. They are very similar to the teams' previous jerseys in look, but it seems they are a bit more form fitting.
According to the WSJ, many of the larger NFL players are asking this question a lot: "Does this make me look fat?"
Alex Boone, a 300 pound guard for the 49ers told the WSJ:
"I hate them. They are built for thin guys. It makes me look like I have big old love handles."
The new Nike jerseys have a "body-contoured fit," which basically means the jerseys are tight and form fitting. As Baltimore Ravens lineman Terrence Cody points out, the jerseys look great on the lean, toned guys, like wide receivers, but he thinks they should have different uniforms for the bigger guys like him.
Other players like Baltimore lineman Ramond Harewood said the guys who are complaining are just being vain. Harewood told the WSJ:
"They say you have to look good to play good—I don't believe that."
But for Boone, who says his stomach hangs out of the bottom of his jersey, and others who are constantly pulling down their jerseys, we hope Nike creates something a little less form-fitting, and a little more comfortable for a 300-pound plus guy.
