Here Are The Super Awkward Portraits Of Olympic Athletes That People Are Calling 'An Embarrassment'

A batch of strange portraits of US Olympics athlete has started an online firestorm in the last few days

The photos were taken at the 2012 US Olympics media summit in May. They went viral this week after this Reddit thread about the photos exploded, with commenters calling them "terrible," "shoddy," and "an embarrassment."

The target of the criticism was a batch of photos taken by Joe Klamar of AFP. But there were actually three different photographers taking pictures at the summit, and they all produced their fair share of awkward portraits.

Klamar defended himself to ABC News yesterday, saying he was unprepared for the shoot because he thought he was just supposed to take candid photos of the press conference.

We aren't as up-in-arms as some Reddit users are.

But it's fair to say that many of these are super weird.
