Week 13 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Quick Tips for Players You Must Start

Fighting for playoff position in your fantasy football league?

I am.

In this quick tips article, I'll give little snippets on who to start, who needs to be dragged to the bench and the reasons why.

- To begin, get all of your New England Patriots in the lineup. Yes, even Deion Branch and Danny Woodhead are good starts this week.

The Colts are utterly awful on defense and something tells me Bill Belichick won't call off the dogs if New England gets out to a huge lead.

But you knew that.

- We've got two games that have major fantasy production potential: Lions at Saints and Packers at Giants.

All four teams have premier pass-catching units and are up against suspect defenses.

I'm also firmly believe Victor Cruz has supplanted Hakeem Nicks as a more viable fantasy option. Eli Manning will almost assuredly be going deep often against Green Bay.

If you're sort of desperate, starting any one of the three Saints running backs isn't a bad idea.

- What's the deal with Vincent Jackson? He has a bad game, then a huge one, then a terrible one. Definitely a risky start against the Jaguars this week.

- I'm not a huge fan of starting the typical offensive juggernauts on the Falcons or Texans this week. Both defenses are playing extremely well of late and for Houston, T.J. Yates will struggle.

Think this is a more pedestrian day for Matt Ryan and Michael Turner.

- Carson Palmer has settled in nicely to the Raiders offense, but he's facing a much improved Dolphins secondary in Miami this weekend. I'd send him to the bench.

- Start Riley Cooper. He's been Vince Young's favorite target in his two starts. Young will start again this week against the Seahawks, Jeremy Maclin has already been ruled out and we know what Andy Reid thinks of DeSean Jackson now.

- Don't be afraid to start players in the Steelers-Bengals game. Yes, it'll be a defensive struggle, but there will be offense production. Both teams have playmakers on the outside and the running backs should get their fair share of carries in the red zone.
