Week 16 Fantasy Rankings: Projecting the Week's Top RBs

In Week 16 of the NFL season, the following running backs are projected to top our rankings:

Ray Rice, Ravens

It was only three weeks ago that Rice went for 204 yards and a score against the Browns, so it's not unreasonable to think he's in for another big day against that defense. We doubt he'll crack 200 again, but there's enough potential in the form of total yards for Rice to top the Week 16 list.

 

LeSean McCoy, Eagles

There's a lot to like about McCoy in Week 16. For starters, he has scored seven total touchdowns over the past three weeks, pushing his NFL-leading touchdown total into the 20s. But maybe more encouraging is the fact that he's playing the Cowboys, who he torched for 185 yards (200 total) and two scores back in Week 8. He's a guy who could win fantasy football championships this week.

 

Michael Turner, Falcons

Turner hasn't cracked 100 yards in five weeks, but there's a sneaking suspicion that this could be the week he breaks the century mark. The Falcons will want to pound him early and often against the Saints to control the pace, and Turner nearly went over 100 the last time these two met. If he gets the right amount of touches, he'll be a big scorer.

 

Reggie Bush, Dolphins

Bush has 406 rushing yards over the last three weeks, making him the most productive back during that crucial fantasy stretch. The Patriots, his opponent in Week 16, are the 15th-best fantasy defense against running backs this season, but they've been gashed in recent weeks. Bush is a must-start again.

 

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars

MJD has to be on this list because he's been so consistent this season. In 13 of 14 games in 2011, Jones-Drew has 80 or more rushing yards. What more can you ask for? 

 

Rashard Mendenhall, Steelers

The matchup (vs. St. Louis Rams) is a good one for Mendenhall, and he might sees a boatload of carries with Ben Roethlisberger not likely to play. An offense centered around the running game could mean a surprising performance from Mendenall in Week 16.
