Peyton Hillis Injury: Cleveland Browns RB Is in Trouble vs. Tough Ravens' Defense

Peyton Hillis Injury: Cleveland Browns RB Is in Trouble vs. Tough Ravens' Defense

The Cleveland Browns may not be playing for much, but they are auditioning their powerful running back Peyton Hillis to see if he really would be someone they could build a team around.

While the hamstring that has kept him from being an effective running back for most of this season is healing nicely, the back is still not at 100 percent.

Couple that with the fact that Cleveland is playing the Baltimore Ravens and their stout defense today and you have the perfect mix for a terrible game and a possible re-aggravation of his injury.

Hillis has been on the record as saying that he has been working towards an extension with the Browns, but his true intentions about staying in Cleveland have been questioned.

Hillis told the Cleveland News-Herald about his desire for next season:

This is where I want to be. I love Cleveland. There have always been questions there. I'm having fun. I enjoy this place and I enjoy this team. I hope to be here.

That’s all fine and dandy, but the majority of the reports say that the Browns don’t want the bruiser back.

With a lack of team support, Hillis has to face off with a Baltimore run defense that enjoys punishing running backs that think they’re strong. Just ask Frank Gore and the 49ers about how the stacked Baltimore D held him to just 39 yards on 14 carries.

The last game Hillis played against the Ravens was Week 15 of the 2010 season. He ran the ball 12 times for 35 yards. You can expect more numbers like that today.
