After Syracuse beat Eastern Michigan 84-48 last night, Jim Boeheim focused his press conference on the recent allegations against his former assistant coach Bernie Fine.
He started by reading this statement of a printed piece of paper:
"I'm saddened in many ways by what's unfolding and I'm looking forward to a time when we can talk and learn from what has happened. There is an important investigation going on which I fully support and I can't add anything to that by speaking more about that now. The investigation and all that we can learn from it is what is important."
And when a reporter asked him if he was worried about the status of his job he laughed out loud and said:
"I’ve never worried about my job status in 36 years. When I worry about that, I may have to get a job with you guys. I’ve been here for 36 years and I’ve never worried about anything."
“I’ve been here 36 years. I’ve never worried about anything that happened on my watch. There is an investigation. There are no charges, no indictments, no grand jury. When the investigation is done, we will find out what happened on my watch.”
While Boeheim said he deeply regrets the statements he made [Bobby Davis is telling lies, and just wants money], he still seems very confident in his position as head coach at Syracuse.
We wonder if he'll deeply regret that statement after what comes out in the investigation.
