Senators Don’t Plan On Any Big Moves At Trade Deadline

from James Gordon of Senators Extra at the Ottawa Citizen, Don’t expect Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk to make any impulse buys when the NHL trade deadline rolls around next Monday.

Melynk phoned in to Toronto radio station The Fan 590 Monday morning and insisted he has learned his lesson when it comes to breaking the bank to win now.

“What are you going to do?” Melnyk asked host Roger Lajoie. “You’re seventh (in the standings), you end up seventh. What happens if you go out and spend a boatload of money and come in ninth? Then everybody looks like an idiot!”

Melnyk said the Senators intend to stick to their plan, which revolves drafting well and building from within.
