WWE: How Dolph Ziggler and The Miz Will Carry the Company Forward

Its hard to believe that someone from the Spirit Squad and MTV's the Real World might actually be some of the future stars of the WWE, but that seems to be what has happened.

The Miz went from a reality show contestant, to a contestant on a wrestling reality show, to one of the top heels in the WWE.

Ziggler went from being a preppy cheerleader, to being a male wrestler who was attached to a real heel—his manager Vickie Guerrero, to becoming a serious midcard heel who is developing his own gimmick.

Both of them have done something that is starting to catch fire with the company while still being in its infancy.

Both of them know how to use media.

For Miz, he just seems to be plugged into every facet of the Internet.  If anything, he seems to be an icon of the 21st century.

He is the best example of a new type of wrestler who not only can compete on the mic—and in the ring much to the chagrin of some fans—but also connect with most of the quickly-adapting technological world today.

Ziggler has started to create a name for himself by inventing hashtag heel or also shown as #HEEL which he has used on fellow wrestler Zack Ryder's YouTube show.  He has also used it on his Twitter account to hype himself.

Not only are both men competent heels who seem to be turning it up lately, they are both harbingers for the new technology that is constantly evolving and changing how fans and athletes interact.

Instead of having to read magazines for interviews and watch whatever TV vignettes are available, fans can have instant access to the wrestlers they see on WWE programming every week.

Not only are the Miz and Ziggler both using this technology to further their interaction with fans, but at the same time, they are also putting their ring personas over.  Fans, of course, know this, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

And the best part?  Both the Miz and Ziggler are able to use the platform without being micromanaged by the WWE officials.  Sure, there are probably some things they have been told to do and refrain from, but for the most part, they have the ability to tweak their characters.

Because of this freedom, they have been able to transform themselves into some of the top talent on the WWE roster and gain their own followings.  Now most WWE wrestlers have a Twitter account, but these men were there before that and it shows.

Instead of being forced to accept the change, they have been the ones to champion it.  Whatever new inventions come out and whatever twists might appear in the near future, it's a good bet that these two men will be some of the first to use them in a way that helps keep them over.

And who knows.  Maybe it will be something that even writers will start using as well.
