James Harrison is the poster-child in the NFL for illegal hits. In 2010, he was fined $125 thousand for several illegal hits. It has gotten so bad that some think the league has a vendetta against Harrison.
Well, Harrison might as well get his checkbook ready, because his hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy on Thursday is exactly what the league is trying to eliminate.
Harrison clearly lowers his helmet and directs the contact at McCoy's helmet. McCoy wasn't going down, and did not change direction. There is no reason why Harrison couldn't have led with his shoulder and wrapped McCoy up.
