Diving is an ugly part of soccer, and something that turns off many Americans. Who can forget Morten Gamst Pederson's dive for Blackburn?
But now, one club in Australia is doing their part to rid the game of all the flopping (via Reuters)...
Australia's Sydney FC have fined their own defender Shannon Cole for diving in the penalty box during an A-League match at the weekend and breaching club rules against simulation.
The fine only came after Cole admitted to the flop, saying "I knew I did something wrong."
Can you imagine the Heat fining Dwyane Wade for flopping, or the Yankees fining Derek Jeter for faking a Hit by Pitch? And how much would Jerome Simpson have been fined for this Nestea-plunge recently against the Browns?
Ahhh, the world would be a better, if less entertaining, place to watch sports.
