29.
That's the relatively low number of putts Tiger Woods had in his even-par first round at The Masters.
Everyone said he had a good chance to win if he was putting well. So far, he is.
He saved par on the first two holes with two clutch putts, and saved bogey on the 18th with a one-putt.
It's the driver that's letting him down.
Tiger hit four big hooks off the tee today. Two of those drives (on #2 and #18) resulted in penalty shots. In addition, two of them came on par 5s (#2 and #15) — which are typically surefire birdies for Tiger — and resulted in pars.
That's a lot of shots that he can easily gain back if he gets the driver right (a big if, but it's certainly fixable).
Tiger is four back of the leader Lee Westwood right now.
