One of the most overlooked positions in fantasy football is kicker. In fact, some of the best kickers in the game today can net you anywhere between 9-15 points per game. That’s more than some of the elite level players at QB, WR and RB can get in a game.
However, if you do swing and miss on the kicker position, it can crush your team.
Here are some kickers who will crush your team if you start them this week.
Neil Rackers, Houston Texans
Rackers has had quite the up and down season so far with the Texans. Some games he’s going to be great, netting you 11 or more points—or, Neil will come up short only getting you two points.
This week against a good Cleveland Browns pass defense, Rackers will have a hard time getting onto the field to convert his field goal attempts.
Sit Rackers this week, as you should be able to find a much better kicker on your waiver wire.

Billy Cundiff, Baltimore Ravens
Cundiff has been one of the better kickers in the fantasy football world this year. He’s had weeks where he scores 10-20 points, as four out of the last five weeks he’s accomplished that.
However, this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where Cundiff had a nice day against them in Week 1 scoring nine points, he will struggle.
Kickers when they play in Pittsburgh usually have a tough time kicking at Heinz Field. Plus, with the Steelers defense playing at a higher level recently, it will limit the Ravens offense to the point where Cundiff may only get one or two chances to score.
Sit Cundiff this week, or drop him and hope that he stays on your waiver wire until next week.
Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers

Crosby went off in Green Bay’s last game against Minnesota, scoring 18 points. However, that game was in a dome with no weather implications, while this week’s game is on the road in San Diego and will hurt Crosby more than help.
In five games, where Crosby has had to kick outdoors, he has only gone over 10 points once.
Crosby is an OK play this week, but if you can find a better option on your waiver wire, then do so.
Three kickers who usually are great starters are people you should either drop for a week, or just sit on your bench. There are a lot of great replacements on your waiver wire, so go pick them up now.
