I'll say it now. I'm jumping on the Ben Henderson bandwagon.
Henderson is remembered by most fans for taking the Showtime kick to the jaw in the final fight in the WEC for the lightweight title.
Henderson lost his title there to Anthony Pettis, and he's been hungry to make fans forget that ever since.
Henderson made his UFC debut at UFC 129 against Mark Bocek, when he went into unfriendly territory in Canada against Bocek, who is Canadian.
Henderson won a unanimous decision in that fight, and to me, the highlight of that fight was when Henderson went into absolute beast mode and clinched up with Bocek against the cage and threw an endless stream of knees to Bocek's head.
That was absolute tenacity and relentlessness.
After that fight, Henderson proved that he was ready for a step up in competition. He got what he asked for when he was paired up to fight Jim Miller.
Miller was on a seven-fight win streak, and with a win over Henderson, he would earn a title shot. Not many fans gave Henderson a chance.
Henderson proved all his doubters wrong by handing Miller his third loss of his career. The other two losses came to the consensus top two lightweights, Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar.

Henderson is obviously in elite territory by having beaten Miller, so now you are left to wonder.
Is Henderson in line for a title shot now?
Quite simply, no.
But with one more fight, he is in line.
That one fight would have to be against Clay Guida.
Guida was interviewed after the card, and in reference to Henderson and Pettis, he said something along the lines of "I beat the guy who beat the guy" and he is correct, saying that he beat Pettis, who beat Henderson.
Dana doesn't rely much on MMA math, but there is a point there.
However, I think Guida and Henderson each need one more win before earning a title shot.
The clear match to make is between these two relentless competitors, and make sure that it is known that this is a No. 1 contender's fight.
Dana has been reluctant to outright say if anything is a No. 1 contender match, due to fighters playing it safe and not looking for finishes when they're fighting for title shots.
Clay Guida doesn't know the meaning of "playing it safe" and Ben Henderson still has a little more work to do to make people forget about the Showtime kick.
These two could put on a fight of the year. Dana White, Joe Silva, please: make it happen.
