NBA Rumors: Will Warriors' Monta Ellis Land with Chicago Bulls?

NBA Rumors Have Bulls as Possibility for Warriors' Monta Ellis

Rumors have been flying for a few weeks now around dynamic Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis, who some feel deserved to be an All-Star last season.

Ellis averaged 24.1 points on 45 percent shooting and 5.6 assists for the Warriors in 2010-2011, but his efforts largely went for naught, with the Warriors finishing 36-46.

He's been linked to the Philadelphia 76ers (for Andre Iguodala), Atlanta Hawks (for Josh Smith), Memphis Grizzlies (for Rudy Gay), Portland Trail Blazers (Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum) and Denver Nuggets (Nene Hilario).

On Friday, the San Jose Mercury News' Tim Kawakami wrote:

I?m told Chicago very much is at the top of that theoretical Ellis list, though it?s obvious that the Warriors are not limiting their discussions to just one or two teams.

But Kawakami did note it's hard to find the right players on the Bulls to complete an Ellis deal unless the Bulls throw in small forward Luol Deng.

Some may find this a small price to pay for an answer at shooting guard for the Bulls, but, don't forget, the Bulls got to the Eastern Conference Finals because of their defense and Deng was a big part of that.

Nonetheless, Ellis is going to want to go to a contender and the Bulls certainly qualify. That hole at shooting guard needs to be closed up if they legitimately want to win a title.

Of course, Ellis, while a good stealer in his career, isn't exactly a rousing on-the-ball defender and it may be that his style just doesn't fit.

I personally don't see it; the Bulls value defense too much to fiddle with it.
