LeBron James jokes prove the Internet gives no free passes
LeBron James may not feel like he deserves the hatred and the venom. He might feel like the quotes and jokes that are being directed at him are unfair, and that other stars wouldn?t get nearly the same treatment from the masses, but LeBron James is just complaining to an empty room.
He brought this on himself.
From DeShawn Stevenson wearing a shirt that says ?Hey LeBron! How my Dirk taste? to online jokes such as:
A wife tells her husband ?I want to name our son LeBron James.? The husband replies ?I don?t like it. It just doesn?t have a ring to it.?
The jokes are endless, but his acceptance must be full blast. LeBron James brought this on himself with his arrogance, his denial, and his complete lack of self-awareness. King James does as he pleases and he?ll never escape the endless onslaught until he gets wise and accepts the blame for the failures of his team.
Most Embarrassing Superstar Moments
You can?t enter a team to a cloud of smoke and an arena of screaming fans, while your hometown licks it?s wounds, blindsided by your ?decision? and then ask the world to cut you some slack. In this life you have to be accountable to earn respect.
LeBron wants the love but is unwilling to accept the hate. He wants the glory but is unwilling to put in the work. It?s the reason why he?s shrunk in moments that matter most, and why his game lacks the depth of his peers. He is willing to relish in his raw ability, and in that alone. He thinks we should do the same.
It was last year that LeBron told the world he spoiled us with his incredible performances. We get used to greatness from a great player. It?s as if we should be content that he?s content with his talents. Sports fans have always asked for more from their superstars because it?s what we would do with those talents. We?d work tirelessly to maximize our own potential. Yet LeBron James does nothing of the sort.
So the Internet attacks because LeBron has left them with no choice. They are cold blooded and cruel, and many of their targets are undeserving of the criticism, but LeBron reaps what he sowed.
In a series that he would have us believe mattered more than anything to him, he got beat. Not just beat, but outclassed, out hustled, and beat down by a German jump shooter that wanted it more. LeBron froze in the moment and yet still wants the adoration and respect of a champion. His immaturity ruined any hope of that.
The avalanche of jokes will continue and LeBron James must learn to live with them.
