Bad injury news for Phoenix, good news for New Jersey

Per a Tweet from Yahoo Sports? Greg ?Puck Daddy? Wyshynski, the Arizona Republic?s Jim Gintonio reports that the Phoenix Coyotes will be without the services of defenseman Ed Jovanovski for a few weeks?

Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski was scheduled to undergo surgery Friday for an orbital bone fracture he suffered in Thursday night?s game against Atlanta. Jovanovski and the Thrashers? Patrice Cormier collided, face to face, as the second period was coming to an end. Jovanovski is likely to miss several weeks.

?It is tough,? coach Dave Tippett said. ?We certainly will miss him, but we?ve got some players that hopefully will step in and fill that role. Jovo has missed a little bit of time here lately (injuries and flu), so we?ve got some players that have been playing in that role, but he will certainly be missed.?

The New Jersey Devils received better news about Martin Brodeur, however, as the AP notes:

The New Jersey Devils have activated goaltender Martin Brodeur a little less than two weeks after he sprained his right knee in Montreal. Brodeur will back up Johan Hedberg for the Devils? home game against the New York Rangers on Friday night.
