Report- 2013 All-Star Game In Columbus

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers, One source told The Dispatch last night (Friday) that the Blue Jackets ? in the midst of the worst season in franchise history, and in dire need of good news ? were informed yesterday by the league that they would be the host city next season.

The game is one of the NHL?s marquee events and would be, possibly, one of the most significant events ever hosted in the city.

In the past, the NHL would not approve Columbus as a host for the game because the area around Nationwide Arena lacked a sufficient number of high-end hotel rooms needed to house sponsors, celebrities, players, etc. But a 500-room Hilton, being built just blocks from Nationwide Arena, is planned for completion by Sept. 2012, a month before the 2012-13 season opens.

Denver Broncos Reunite Jack Del Rio and John Fox (and it feels so good)

John Fox and Jack Del Rio have a song today: “Reunited: and it feels so good.” “There’s one perfect fit, and sugar this one is it, we’re both so excited cuz we’re reunited, hey hey.” The Denver Broncos announced Friday night Del Rio as the team’s new defensive coordinator. Boston Celtics: Celtics Get Help From Rookie Moore to Defeat Orlando

After defeating the Orlando Magic earlier in the week 87-56, the Celtics were going to get another shot at the Magic this time, on the road though. The Magic were seeking revenge after an embarrassing effort earlier this week in Boston. However it was a tale of two halves as the Boston Celtics were able to come from behind (being down by 27 points) and hold on for the victory.

The Celtics have struggled somewhat this season in part with injuries to their key players, as well as being a veteran team trying to survive the compact NBA schedule. As a result, there have been some games where the Celtics look wonderful, and then there are times when they appear to not be in sink, and do not have their “legs.”

However the Celtics struggled in the first half of the game scoring a total of 37 points and being out-rebounded able to focus and come out with a victory on the road against the Orlando Magic. The Boston Celtics were down big to the Orlando Magic last night on the road and having to rely on their bench more due to injuries to starters Rajon Rondo (point guard), Ray Allen (shooting guard) and Jermaine O’Neal (center).

The Celtics went with a starting lineup of Kevin Garnett, former Magic forward Brandon Bass, Paul Pierce, Mickael Pietrus and Avery Bradley. Head coach Doc Rivers went to his bench often as he was looking to keep his players fresh.

The Celtics were able to get a boost from rookie guard E’Twaun Moore who scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half and went 4-4 from the three-point line in 18 minutes of playing time. Moore was able to take advantage of double-teams (playing of Paul Pierce) and was open on the wing and made the three-point shots when it mattered most. Moore was the unlikely hero but was able to take advantage of playing time without Rondo and Allen on board.

The Orlando Magic struggled to find their offense in the second-half and the Celtics defense pressured them into taking hurried shots with the shot clock winding down. The next time these two teams play each other is on April 18th, and it should be interesting to see how both rosters look and too see if playoff implications are on the line.

Chicago Bears: Media Overreacting to LB Brian Urlacher's Toradol Usage

The news media is overreacting to Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher's admission that he used the painkiller Toradol throughout his career.

Urlacher, a 12-year NFL veteran, told the Chicago Tribune that he used the controversial drug "about 40-50 times" throughout his career. While Urlacher didn't use it last year, he did say about four to five different Bears players would take it before each game.

Toradol is a non-addictive, non-narcotic drug that serves as an anti-inflammatory and is frequently used on patients after surgeries to reduce swelling. The drug cuts down pain so players could perform on the field, but doesn't help an injury.

Reporters are questioning whether Urlacher has a problem, but this is to be expected fans and media want the best players on the field no matter what. Despite the controversial nature of Toradol that former NFL players including Joe Horn and Jerome Pathon are suing the NFL by saying Toradol masks concussion-like symptoms and increases the risk of severe brain injuries.

Middle linebacker is a taxing position in the NFL, as Urlacher has to roam the middle to either stop opposing running backs take on physical wide receivers and tight ends in down the field situations.

The star linebacker has received his fair share of injuries. Urlacher dislocated his wrist in 2009 that sidelined him for most of the season. In 2004, he had hamstring issues while having to deal with an arthritic back.

The New Mexico alum took Toradol shots during the Seattle Seahawk playoff game last January and again before the Green Bay Packers NFC Championship showdown. Without the shot, Urlacher probably would've missed those playoff games.

If Urlacher didn't take Toradol, the star linebacker would miss some significant time with injuries and swelling. What would reports and fans say if the heart and soul of the Bears' defense would not do everything in his power to help his team win?

A Catch-22 then ensues for players like Urlacher, as they are criticized for not playing hurt but also questioned if means like Toradol are taken to allow them to return to the field.

Urlacher told the Chicago Tribune he feels the team doctors are responsible in their administration of the drug and he would continue to use it despite potentially dangerous complications.

In fact, Urlacher and his team doctors know his body well and are careful with Toradol, as he isn't addicted to the drug. Using Toradol might be controversial, but players like Urlacher want to get on the field as quickly as possible to help their team win.

That's part of the NFL's tough guy culture that the media and fans foster. Urlacher knows the risks for taking Toradol, and his responsible utilization of the drug shouldn't be criticized.
