2011 NFL Mock Draft: Buffalo Bills Pass on Blaine Gabbert for Top Defensive Pick

The Buffalo Bills Pass on Blaine Gabbert

The Buffalo Bills really like Frank Sinatra because they do things their way. If you do not get the reference, I feel really old.

If a franchise quarterback is a priority, like it is this year, do not expect them to get one in the first round. They may not try for one in the second round either.

The reason for this is the Bills are in a better position than many other teams who need a quarterback because they have a guy who can hold the fort down until they find a franchise quarterback. The key part of this is they have to actually find one, which they will not do here.

Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be the quarterback of the future in Buffalo, but he is good enough to allow the Bills to wait until the second round (or even the third) to take a quarterback. The Bills can spend the first round focusing on other needs and improve the team on both sides of the ball.

Patrick Peterson is the best prospect in the draft according to many scouts and the Bills will scoop him up here without thinking twice about it.

With Peterson, the Bills now have a shutdown corner to anchor their secondary.

Once the second-round begins, the Bills can take their choice from a list of good quarterbacks who still will be available.

Like It Or Not, The Expanded Baseball Playoffs Are Coming

Bud Selig

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig says the league is "moving inexorably" toward a 10-team playoff format, as early as next season.

The issue will have to be collectively bargained with the players, including a possible adjustment of the regular season schedule, but the league seems determined to open up more playoff spots.

The expected plan would be an extra Wild Card series, where the last two teams in each league would square off before joining the division winners.

2011 NBA Mock Draft: Boston Spells Big Baby T-Y-U-S

Before this year's NCAA Tournament, many had not heard of Alex Tyus.  It was his average of 13.3 rebounds per game over the Gators' final three tournament games (including 17 against Jimmer Fredette and BYU) that made people take notice.

Tyus is small at 6'8" and 220 pounds, but he crashes the boards with the strength of an elite center.  Given how Glen "Big Baby" Davis and his hot-headed attitude might be on their way out of Boston, Tyus would be a suitable replacement for him.

He plays great defense in the paint, is motivated each game and most importantly, has a great willingness to learn.  If any team passes up on Tyus, they don't know what they're missing.
